Coming This Week

If you liked getting all that great new music last week you’re going to love this week.

Tuesday is the day all of you Black Keys fans have been waiting for. Last year was a very busy one for Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, releasing two solo/side-project albums and the collaborative hip-hop album, BlakRoc, that we sent you in November. This time it’s back to their roots on Brothers, a collection of 15 tracks that are as tight and powerful as I’ve heard the duo in a long time. We sent you the Danger Mouse-produced “Tighten Up” in March and “Howlin’ For You ” in April. Tomorrow you’ll get the whole album.

On Thursday we will be sending you the debut release from a Los Angeles, CA band called Bell Gardens which features Brian McBride of Stars of the Lidand Kenneth James Gibson, also known as [a]pendics.shuffle.

I’ve seen them three times recently and the shows have all been great. The LA Weekly had this to say about the album: “It’s gorgeous, rapturous pop balladry with candy-coated Beach Boys falsettos and pre-afro-Phil Spector production. It’s weightless with gravitas. Gibson might be the techno flavor du jour, but this is the stuff that will mark his place.”
