Laurie Anderson – Coming Soon

Posted on Jun 17, 2010

“Anderson’s performance pieces can be mind-altering; when they work, they can change the way you see the everyday.  It’s not an everyday record, butHomeland does draw on the everyday, in new and inventive ways.” – NPR’s Bob Boilen

Laurie Anderson is one of America’s most daring artists, working in music, visual art, poetry, film, and photography. Anderson has described Homeland, her acclaimed show ruminating on contemporary American culture, as “one-third politics, one-third pure music, and one-third strange dreams.”  The album includes a guest appearances by Lou Reed, Antony Hegarty, Fourtet’s Keiran Hebden and Anderson’s male alter ego, Fenway Bergamot.  The piece—part political dialogue, part poetry song cycle combining words, electronics and live music—explores a range of contemporary issues, from the war and the media to America’s growing surveillance culture and the environment.

Homeland is out June 22 on Nonesuch Records and is coming your way next week. We’ll be going for adds on June 28 & 29.
