A man A plan A canal is proud to bring you the latest release from Rhys Chatham, A Crimson Grail. This unique piece, commissioned by the city of Paris in 2005, was created for a large electric guitar orchestra. This recording captures an outdoor performance of this astounding work at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park and features 200 electric guitars, 16 electric basses, 5 conductors, and 1 percussionist. “The work’s greatest allure is in passages where melody, harmony and rhythm are virtually absent, when all you hear is the visceral roar of plucked strings.” says the New York Times. Don’t miss out on this sonically adventurous piece that’s “Beautifully intricate and harmonically dense” according to the Dallas Observer.
