Exclusive RSD Black Friday Servicing: The Doors “Riders on the Storm” (alternate version) – Digital Servicing Only

Posted on Nov 22, 2011

Record Store Day is celebrating Black Friday for the second year in a row by doing what they do best: making exclusive and limited releases available at independent record stores. This year The Doors will be joining an impressive list of participating artists by releasing a limited-edition vinyl box set featuring songs from the band’s 1970 album, L.A. Woman. The L.A. Woman Singles Box will include four seven-inch records, three of which will boast remastered, original versions of singles from the classic album — “Love Her Madly,” “Riders on the Storm” and the John Lee Hooker cover “Crawling King Snake” — as well as previously unreleased alternate takes of those same songs. The fourth record will feature audio of The Doors‘ four members — singer Jim Morrison, organist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore — chatting in the studio while recording “Riders on the Storm” and “Crawling King Snake.” Only 4,000 copies of the L.A. Woman Singles Box will be made available but to help get the word out about RSD: Black Friday we’re giving you special access to the alternate version on “Riders on the Storm”. Please support your local independent record stores by mentioning Record Store Day: Black Friday and all the special releases that will be made available that day. Independent record stores are extremely vital to the music community and it’s important that we do all we can to support them.
