Kate Pierson Going for Adds

Kate Pierson of The B-52s releases her debut solo album Guitars and Microphones this week. Tim Anderson (Banks, Low) produced the album while Sia served as Executive Producer and co-wrote with Pierson, along with a variety of other songwriters including Chris Braide (Lana Del Rey) and The Strokes guitarist Nick Valensi. The result is a record that harkens to the Surrealism, lurid sci-fi, forbidden dance party music that The B-52s became popular for decades ago, but in a way that sounds in tune with the now. Guitars and Microphones marries party rock, psychedelia with socio-political punk. Revered for her anthemic pop chops, Pierson‘s songs are rife with girl group wit & drama – rejecting preconceived ideas and stereotypes at every turn. This is humanism and feminism out for a real good time.
