The Staves debut live video on Stereogum and talk to DIY Magazine about producer Justin Vernon

If I Was, the excellent sophomore album from British trio The Staves, was produced by Justin Vernon, the Grammy-winning man behind Bon Iver. Vernon joined the group onstage in London last month to perform a moving rendition of the song “Make it Holy,” and Stereogum has video of the performance here. Watch it to get an inkling of why Stereogum‘s Caitlin White says, “[If I Was] is one of my absolute favorite albums to come out this year.”

The three sisters who make up The Staves sat down with DIY Magazine to talk about their recording process and collaborative chemistry with Vernon. The band describes Vernon‘s studio as “a bit of a sanctuary” and call him a “mentor, friend, and guru.” Read the whole thing here.

The Staves are doing great at radio, debuting on the top half of the CMJ 200 last week. Start them at your station and help them climb!
