AV Club’s Brief History of Built to Spill – Untethered Moon Reviewed by Consequence of Sound

Built to Spill‘s new full-length is finding its way into the hearts and minds of radio programmers and DJs. The band hit #1 at KEXP helped it debut at #23 on the CMJ Radio 200 chart. According to Consequence of Sound, this success is due to the fact that Untethered Moon is an “excellent record of big hooks and guitar wizardry” that “sits right at the band’s musical sweet spot”. Read the full review here.

Of course, Untethered Moon is just the next chapter in Doug Martsch and company’s illustrious career. Over at the AV Club, the band has been chosen for the second edition of a new column called “Power Hour” that attempts to distill canonical artists’ catalogs into tight 60-minute sets. The feature, which can be viewed here, presents an introductory history of the band alongside videos of songs that stretch over its 22 year career.

Thanks to all of the stations that have helped Untethered Moon get off to such a strong start. Help push it into the CMJ Top Ten with more support this week, and check Built to Spill out on their tour that starts Thursday in Nashville.
