Altsounds has a feature on Ghost Against Ghost‘s Checkpoint Charlie EP. The feature describes Christopher Bono’s neo-classical project as a “post-everything electronic-rock concept,” paying special heed to the EP’s use of a 46-piece orchestra recorded in Prague. Read the feature, which includes a stream of the whole thing, here.

Second Inversion, a website devoted to “rethinking classical music,” has reviewed the album. According to the review, available here, the EP “draws upon influence from late romantic composers and uses the dreamy, lush layering… to gently coax the listener into a psychedelic, melancholic experience… Bono taps into the universal anguish of heartbreak and strips it of adjectives, of metaphors, and gives us a piece of music that sounds like one long, cathartic scream.”

The Checkpoint Charlie EP, which has been provided with both full-length and radio edit tracks, is excellent for fans of bands like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Trent Reznor. Get it started at your station, and be sure to pass it along to DJs who specialize in experimental, classical, or noise music.
