Alpine Interviews with NPR and Vinyl Garden, Announces US Tour – Looking for Debuts

Alpine‘s sophomore album Yuck is out now, and was the seventh-most added record on the CMJ charts last week. NPR loves the album, debuting lead single “Foolish” a few months ago and featuring the album as a First Listen. Now, venerable public radio mainstay Scott Simon has interviewed the band for a feature on Weekend Edition. In the interview, the band tells Simon about the reasoning behind the album’s title, the “anything goes” mentality that went into the album’s explorations of sounds that weren’t present on Alpine’s first album, and their career goals. Enjoy their banter here.

Vinyl Garden, a blog from Alpine’s native Australia, recently posted an interview with Lou James, one of the band’s dual female lead singers. According to James, the new album can be described with the following five words: “RnB, Yuck, Assured, Heartache, Courage.” Interviewer Erin Rooney asks James some really thoughtful questions, eliciting equally thoughtful responses about the band’s writing process and the vocal synergy between James and co-singer Phoebe Baker.
