Vice Says Alpine is Among the Best of 2015; Broadsheet Features the Band

Vice‘s Noisey blog starts its list of 2015’s 15 best albums so far with a disclaimer: “Lists are dumb.” But we beg to differ, because Noisey’s list includes some incredibly smart choices – including Yuck, the sophomore album from Australian six-piece Alpine. The posting says that “Yuck is wall-to-wall wonder… a record that sneaks up on you like a casual kiss on the back of the neck while you’re cooking: unexpected and stirring.” If you’re not already sold on the album, read the whole list here and find out why Alpine deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as other 2015 standouts by the likes of Jamie XX, Earl Sweatshirt, Hop Along, and Speedy Ortiz.

The album has been generating similarly positive reviews around the globe, according to the Broadsheet. That publication recently talked to band member Phoebe Baker about the band’s aesthetic choices and how the album’s title “kind of lightens the process [of releasing an anticipated second album] without diminishing the meaning” of the songs.
