Lianne La Havas Feels the Love from PopMatters, the Irish Times, and PRESIDENT OBAMA! Blood Hits #16 on CMJ.

PopMatters has reviewed Lianne La Havas’ new LP, Blood, and determined that the record is “nearly flawless.” Comparing the album to La Havas’ 2012 debut, reviewer Colin McGuire wrote, “Emotion. Inhibition. Power. Desire. Passion. If Is Your Love Big Enough? was designed to get our attention, Blood is designed to keep it. The steps forward here are borderline transcendent.” Read the entirety of the review here.

The Irish Times has published a long interview feature on La Havas, including insights from the singer’s career up to this point. La Havas tells the Times about being originally inspired to pursue music thanks to her music-loving father, about the importance of a recent trip to Jamaica with her mother, and about how, at 25, she now feels like an adult. La Havas also opens up about her friendship with Prince, with whom she has appeared on Saturday Night Live. Read the whole thing here.

Blood reached a new peak on the CMJ Radio 200 this week, hitting #16. Thanks to all of the stations who have supported the LP! And thanks also to President Barack Obama. The 44th POTUS included La Havas on his Spotify playlist for the summer, along with songs from Leonard Cohen, Brandi Carlile and Andre 3000. Check out the playlist here, and read Vox‘s ranking of the songs on the playlist – with La Havas at #4 – here.
