Lianne La Havas Performs For Pigeons and Planes, Talks to Fuse, Charts in CMJ Top 20 for a 3rd Week

Blood, the second album from British neo-soul songwriter Lianne La Havas, has gotten a lot of press for its bombastic production. While her debut, Is Your Love Big Enough?, is generally relaxed in timbre, Blood is full of big beats and flourishes that take the sound to the next level. Yet La Havas retains the low-key magic that made her debut so alluring, and the songs on Blood still shine when stripped down to more intimate arrangements. For evidence, go here to watch her perform “Unstoppable” for Pigeons and Planes. Rendered with nothing but La Havas’ gorgeous voice and her limber, clean electric guitar playing, the performance shows that it’s La Havas’ talent that is truly unstoppable.

To get a sense of how La Havas spun her stripped-down compositions into the fully realized songs that inhabit Blood, visit Fuse. In her video interview with them here, she explains how a trip to Jamaica helped her to solidify her sound.

Blood continues its reign in the CMJ Top 20 at #18, keep Lianne La Havas at the top of your playlists this week!
