MTV IGGY Interviews Alpine’s Lou James

“Just being cool in my own skin at the moment is making me happy,” says Lou James in a recent interview with MTV IGGY. In the interview, James – who is the co-singer of Alpine along with her counterpart Phoebe Baker – discusses the process of making the band’s new LP Yuck, the struggles, annoyances, and occasional ambivalences of growing up, and why they chose to title the album with such a “playful, bratty word.”

The interview also includes some analysis of the record, which it calls “a gauzy collection of electropop tunes. On the surface, Yuck’s inherit tension reveals itself with multiple spins—a study in contrasts… James and Baker’s jazzy slurs twisting into each other as they ruminate on love, sex, life, and the ambiguity that lays in between it all. Confessional? Yes… But it’s also an unabashedly glam outing.” Read the whole thing here.
