Pell Goes for Adds with the “Queso” Single!

Pell, who was born and raised in New Orleans but forced to relocate to Mississippi at age 13 after Hurricane Katrina destroyed his family’s home, has been praised for fusing precise lyricism and soulful singing. He rose to prominence in 2014 with Floating While Dreaming, a critically-acclaimed album that led to festival spots at Lollapalooza and Reading, nods as a “rapper to know” from Complex and Pigeons & Planes, and viral success in the form of nearly 30 million Spotify and SoundCloud streams. He returns this November with LIMBO, a new LP that was produced by TV on the Radio‘s Dave Sitek and is being released on his Federal Prism label. A visionary artist, Sitek has previously worked with artists as diverse as David Bowie, Kanye West, Liars, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and many more.

“Queso,” taken from the upcoming album, is a perfect example of Pell’s genre-bending diversity. Addictively catchy, it is a jubilant and buoyant track that blends Latin-influenced beats with upbeat R&B and Dirty South cadences to create an eclectic sound that is Pell’s alone.

“Pell hits listeners with layered melodies and focused rapping about his unique story of growing up in NOLA. His style has been described as ‘dream rap,’ and that label certainly fits.”
