Rodrigo Amarante Is Featured on All Songs Considered

Brazilian singer-songwriter Rodrigo Amarante recently got an Emmy nomination for “Tuyo,” the song he wrote and performed as the theme to Netflix‘s Narcos. Last August, the song was included in an All Songs Considered mix curated by Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton and featuring fellow musicians Julia Holter, Death By Unga Bunga, Foals, and more. The accompanying blurb gives some details about the song’s creation, saying, “to write ‘Tuyo,’ Amarante says he imagined the music Escobar’s mother would have listened to as she raised the boy [Pablo Escobar, the subject of Narcos] that would become a monster.”
