New Single from Coast Modern “The Way It Was” – Digital Servicing Only

Though Coast Modern is still an emerging act, the duo has accomplished much since members Luke Atlas and Coleman Trapp decided to abandon their lives as struggling songwriters to devote themselves to conjuring up multi-layered, technicolor indie pop with each other. They’ve experienced tremendous viral success with a string of singles they began releasing less than a year ago, topping charts at the Hype Machine, generating millions of Spotify plays, scoring a feature with Interview magazine, and going on tour with BØRNS and the Wombats.

Their newest single, “The Way It Was,” continues to develop the band’s aesthetic, which combines their admiration for the spirit of misfit alternative bands and the fearless ethos of modern hip-hop. Over a jaunty, tropical beat that gradually transforms into a twisted and skewed dub banger, the duo layers an abstract lyric about embracing the now and couples it with a sticky, anthemic chorus.

“it’s bloody hard to resist the chorus of LA duo Coast Modern‘s ridiculously massive… ‘The Way It Was.’ The production is so simple but quite rightly so, as the melody is so strong it’ll have you swept right up in it.” PressPLAY OK

“A bright pop-rock track with a surprising twist at the end.” -Pigeons and Planes
