Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls Interviews KAYE

Amy Poehler‘s Smart Girls has an in-depth feature on KAYE, whose debut EP Honey the site describes as “a collection of bright self-love anthems–hangs in the air like sunlight, extending warmth in every direction.” The feature is based on an interview with KAYE, who discusses how racism has impacted her as a musician, expresses her desire to bring others joy with her songs, and explains how being a part of New York’s art-pop band San Fermin has impacted her as a solo musician. “I’d always been like ‘I’m a writer, I have something to say,’” she told the site, “So it was a huge challenge to step back and sing somebody else’s words… But… It helped me figure out why being an artist is important to me.” Read the full feature here.
