Teresa Cristina Is Reviewed by NYT, Tours With Caetano Veloso, and Aims For Top 10 at CMJ World

Renowned sambista Teresa Cristina, whose live album Canta Cartola has just been released in the US via Nonesuch Records, keeps audiences fully captivated when she performs. A recent review of the album by the New York Times acknowledges how engaging she is, noting that “she laughs while singing [the songs], and she dredges the beauty out of them.” Read the whole thing here.

See what the Times means by watching her performance of “O Mu ndo é um Moinho,” a Brazilian staple, below. Or, if you happen to be near either New York or South Florida, you can even catch her live alongside the Grammy-winning legend Caetano Veloso. Veloso, a pioneer of Tropicália who ranks among the most important figures in Brazilian musical history, has previously praised Cristina for her “elegance on stage, the simultaneous spontaneity and decorum of every gesture, [her] humor, [her] tone, [and her] impeccable intonation.”
