KEXP Premieres My Goodness’ “Islands”

Seattle’s KEXP has long been a booster of local band My Goodness, so the station was a natural fit to premiere the band’s song “Islands” earlier this autumn. Interviewed for the feature accompanying the premiere, band members Andy Lum and Joel Schneider explained how their new material differs from their earlier music, which Music Director Don Yates described as “first-rate… punkish blues rock.” “In the past we’ve drawn most of our creative energy from volume, which is a lot of fun, but doesn’t leave a lot of room to grow,” Lum told the station. “We basically explored ways we could strip away some of those aggressive elements without losing any musical intensity.” Enjoy the song here or below.

The song is the title track of the band’s new EP. Featuring a Tom Petty cover as well as a track that will remind listeners of the band’s harder-rocking roots, Islands is an excellent addition to playlists and is going for CMJ debuts this week!
