The Line Of Best Fit Says Nico Muhly & Teitur Present “Bottomless Charm”

The Line Of Best Fit has given Nico Muhly & Teitur‘s Confessions 8 out of 10 stars, writing that the new LP is “chamber music for the 2016 everyman.” The review says the lyrics on the album, which are taken from confessional Youtube videos, cause a “net effect [that] is one of skewed thoughtfulness and ricocheted insight; its sensitivity and its percipience feels rather accidental.” These lyrics are combined on the album with beautifully orchestrated baroque chamber music, arranged by Muhly – who has worked with Joanna Newsom and Björk, among many other notables – and performed by the Holland Baroque Society. Of the album’s ornate accompaniments, The Line Of Best Fit says, “Strings, guitar, lute and harpsichord combine into something simultaneously spartan and somehow full of life… the results are bright, lively and youthful.” All told, the album’s elements combine to create “a record of bottomless charm,” according to the site. Confessions is due to make its CMJ Radio 200 debut this week. If you haven’t already, spend some time with this unique and intimate disc and be sure to share it with the DJs at your station!
