The Flaming Lips Prep For 2017 With New Video, Annouce Tour

The Flaming Lips are set to release Oczy Mlody in January, adding to their already-impressive discography of off-kilter and mind-expanding psych rock. To prepare audiences, the band has released lead single “The Castle,” and Stereogum says the song “finds the Lips veering away from the darkness that has characterized their recent albums toward gentle, beautiful psych-pop that characterized their Soft Bulletin/Yoshimi golden era.” That quote accompanies the Stereogum premiere of the song’s video, described by the site as “just one steady shot of a playfully smiling woman accented with colorful animation.” Watch the video here or below.

The Lips, which Q Magazine once dubbed one of the “50 Bands To See Before You Die,” will also take their show on the road with a tour next Spring. Following some dates in Europe, they’ll come back stateside for a month of dates starting in March. Oklahoman fans won’t have to wait that long, as the band has a sooner date in the Sooner State – next Friday, Dec. 16! Here’s a full list of their upcoming North American shows:
