Tinariwen is Featured On NPR’s First Listen

NPR has a review of Tinariwen‘s new album Elwan, which includes guest contributions from Kurt Vile as well as members of Screaming Trees and Queens Of The Stone Age. “But that’s all a sideshow,” NPR asserts, writing that “the main draw continues to be Tinariwen itself — with the band’s swirling guitars, rhythms inspired by the gait of camels and gutturally declaimed poetry.” The new record takes on the themes of “time and turmoil,” which have taken a toll on the group’s native Mali, “and yet — there is still sweetness, and hope” on the LP.
