Gothic Tropic Gets Mad Props From DIY Mag and Revue

“Debut Fast or Feast finds Gothic Tropic (aka Cecilia Della Peruti) channelling a modern strain of pop star – one whose shimmering hooks would sit as neatly alongside Unknown Mortal Orchestra as they would Katy Perry…, Gothic Tropic’s blurred lines feel bang on point.” This is according to DIY Mag, which recently gave the album a four-star review that also manages to cram in comparisons to Ladyhawke, Tame Impala, and the 1980s-era incarnation of Fleetwood Mac. Check that out right here.

In its review, Revue states that Peruti’s songwriting “approaches the brilliance of Mike Hadreas (a.k.a. Perfume Genius) in its intimacy and vividness.” The site continues, “Fast or Feast is no laughing matter. Instead, it should be celebrated and enjoyed for its flourishes and treasure trove of surprises. Its unpredictability is what makes the album interesting, exhilarating, and captivating, and this trait is what makes Peruti one of music’s most exciting artists today.” Read the whole thing here.

Of course, we knew how great this LP was when we took it on as a project — but it’s great to see such effusive praise from other sources! The LP debuted at #123 on its first NACC chart week last week – get behind it now and help propel it to the Top 100.
