Aquarium Drunkard Features Sam Amidon

“Throughout The Following Mountain,” writes Aquarium Drunkard in its recent feature on the new Sam Amidon LP, “it sounds as if [Amidon] is trying to talk to god by uniting his voice and instrument into a single timbre, fused into a melodic line.” It’s an interesting take in an article that insightfully dives into the material on an album it calls “earnest, loose, immediate, and, at times, ecstatic.” According to Aquarium Drunkard, “The Following Mountain does more than reverse-engineer Amidon’s past approach of reimagining folk songs. It pushes through the known quantities and traditions of folk music and comes out the other side transformed. It is the destination, the culmination of Amidon’s musical conversations thus far.” Read the review here.

Thanks to overwhelming support, The Following Mountain is now Sam Amidon’s highest-charting release at either CMJ or NACC. Help propel it even higher up the charts!
