Sam Amidon Details His Musical Journey With Fretboard Journal

According to Fretboard Journal, “Sam Amidon is, quite simply, one of our favorite musicians. His visionary music is mesmerizing: He somehow melds traditional Appalachian folk with experimental music (and it works).” In a recent edition of the Fretboard Journal’s podcast, Amidon shares anecdotes about a “fascinating musical journey” that has included many interesting adventures. Amidon has a new album, The Following Mountain, which is his first record of original compositions. He’s also one of the featured vocalists (along with Natalie Merchant, Rhiannon Giddens, and Olivia Chaney) on Kronos Quartet‘s excellent Folk Songs LP. Both Nonesuch releases are currently at Radio 200 and seeking spins!
