WVIA’s George Graham Reviews Kronos Quartet

Kronos Quartet‘s new album Folk Songs, according to a recent review by George Graham of WVIA in Pennsylvania, is “a fascinating recording that combines guest vocals with often haunting arrangements of traditional tunes… Each of the arrangements has some interesting twist, and none of them [do] what you might expect, usually sounding like neither a bunch of fiddlers nor a classical chamber group. Naturally, this virtuosic quartet plays with spirit and imagination.” Graham also praises the Quartet’s choices for vocal collaborators, Sam Amidon, Rhiannon Giddens, Natalie Merchant, and Olivia Chaney, while delving into the album’s individual and unique tracks.
