American Songwriter Calls Ani DiFranco “Edgy and Inventive” on New LP

“It’s hard to over emphasize the substantial influence Ani DiFranco has on independent music,” opens American Songwriter‘s review of the icon’s new LP, Binary. Yet, the magazine contends, “few including DiFranco herself would have predicted she’d be active over 25 years later, making music as edgy and inventive as that found on Binary.” According to the review, Difranco’s newest record feels “urgent and pulsing,” with jazz inflections and some nods to Joni Mitchell. “DiFranco stretches musical muscles to stay inspired on Binary,” the review concludes, as “she continues to speak her mind with the pride, ferocity and integrity that has shaped an impressively rebellious career.” Read it here.
