Pitchfork Gives “Best New Music” Honors To Mount Eerie

Mount Eerie‘s A Crow Looked At Me, which was released last year, has become the most-acclaimed album of Phil Elverum‘s career. According to Pitchfork, the album’s follow up – called Now Only and at radio now – “is no less a marvel. Phil Elverum’s latest is part memoir and part magnum opus, sung softly and with wonder.” The detailed review, which carries with it the esteemed honor of a “Best New Music” accreditation, explores the nuanced differences between this work and the album that preceded it, playing everything within the context of Elverum’s career as an artist, musician, and “self-mythologizer.” Read the full review here.

Now Only is a truly independent release from Elverum’s personal label, P.W. Elverum and Son, and our servicing of it has been necessarily digital-only because there is no US CD release for us to send. That makes it even more impressive that the record was the fifth-most added album to NACC this week; even stations that identify as “physical-only” are responding to this must-hear piece of work. Don’t hesitate – download Now Only today.
