Ghost Against Ghost was first envisioned in a dream. Exhilarated by the boundless energy of conceptual post rock, dystopian epics, and neo-romanticism, producer/composer Christopher Bono assembled a group of electroacoustic musicians and began performing in New York in 2008. His latest, the Checkpoint Charlie EP, is a two-track EP that offers a glimpse of what to expect on his upcoming album, Oia.
The Checkpoint Charlie EP is a living piece that establishes itself with every listen. Recorded in Prague and featuring a 46-person string orchestra including members of the Czech and Prague Philharmonics, the EP is a dramatic, dreamy experiment of lush and dark harmonies meeting thunderous, head-splitting guitar. The two tracks total 14:30 in length and are accompanied by two radio edits of the breathing, beautiful, and psychedelic “Checkpoint Charlie, pt. 1”, entitled “Contact” and “Eye Light”.
