Infantree, the Los Angeles bred quartet is back with their sophomore release, Hero’s Dose. We first serviced their debut album, Would Work, back in 2010. Now they return after performances at Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Dave Matthew’s Caravan, and Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit. The album was produced by Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Warren Zevon, Secret Sisters) and was recorded at the legendary Sunset Sound Studios. Influences such as Nirvana and My Morning Jacket are clear on the band’s more electric numbers. However, the band’s haunting three part harmonies, Alex Vojdani’s classical guitar training, and the band’s love of folk give the songs a more dark and hypnotic tone reminiscent of Fleet Foxes. The lead single, “Fibber”, bridges the two sounds together with its eerie harmonies, jabbing organ, and soulful rhythm. Other songs, like opening track “What You Wanna Do”, explore the band’s R&B undertones while “Hero’s Dose” has all the energy of a track off Brothers.

RIYL: My Morning Jacket, Nirvana, Fleet Foxes, The Black Keys
