Today is the release date for El Camino, the highly anticipated new album from The Black Keys. Danger Mouse and the band got together to produce an 11 song full length that packs a punch. The LA Times calls it “a party record, a driving down the highway, “I’m in love with rock and roll, and I’ll be out all night.’ record.” Get ready to have some fun with this one.

The record is both ethereal and grounded, evoking a deep sense of introspection and blending narrative lyrics with one-take lead vocal performances, cinematic arrangements, rich soundscapes, and lush orchestration. Vollebekk – who self-produced and plays piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion and Moog synthesizer – compiled an impressive supporting cast including drummer Jim Keltner, steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Rod Stewart), and bassist Shahzad Ismaily. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.
