New Music from Imaginary Cities
Imaginary Cities’ US debut, Temporary Resident, comes on the heels of the announcement that the band will be playing this year’s Lollapolooza in Chicago. The record has already received a lot of praise from the Canadian press including a nomination for the 2011 Polaris Prize, which led to an opportunity to open for The Pixies late last year. The group crafts indie-pop songs which range from the driving and soaring to gloomy and introspective; all similar to that of their musical peers (Metric, Stars) but with the smoky haze of a Nina Simonesong. Filter Magazine premiered a special acoustic performance of opening track “Say You” which you can watch here. The Winnipeg natives will be hitting the road in support of their new record in May opening for mewithoutYou. The album is going for spins 4/9-4/15.
