Mount Eerie’s “Ocean Roar” Music Video Premiere
Ocean Roar, which you received digitally last week, is the second of two releases from Phil Everum's Mount Eerie. The album's title hints at the songs heavier tendencies, calling to mind his ventures into black metal. Elverum still "remains somber" on the title track and even brings a "hopeful vibe to the mix" says Consequence of Sound. But as Stereogum put it, it's done in a "lo-fi My Bloody Valentine" kind of way. "With Phil Elverum backed by a ghostly choir of female vocals. I was already pretty stoked about the album before hearing this, and now, much more so." Watch the smooth, abstract, newly premiered music video for "Ocean Roar" over at Pitchfork now and get stoked for one of college radio's staple artists.
