Gary Clark Jr. Reaches New CMJ Peak – GCJ Turntable/Vinyl Giveaway – Performs on NPR’s World Cafe
As 2013 begins, Gary Clark Jr.‘s debut full-length, Blak & Blu is poised to keep going strong. It reached a new peak on the last CMJ Top 200 charts of 2012, coming in at #11. He was invited by NPR‘s World Cafe to perform songs off the new album and talk about his days as a teenager, playing in Austin blues clubs. He also reveals that the new record was a departure for him, allowing outside influences like producers Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Rilo Kiley) and Rob Cavallo (Green Day) to be in the studio, which made for a body of work that reflects Clark‘s eclectic style. Listen to the interview and performance here.
To welcome everybody back from winter break and in honor of your continued support for Blak & Blu, Gary wanted to give back to his college fans. For the entire month of January Gary is hooking your station up with the chance to enter and win a brand new turntable and Gary Clark Jr vinyl. Here’s how it works:
- Talk about this contest on-air…we guarantee everyone listening would LOVE a new turntable!
- Post the entry form (bit.ly/VAjEky) on all station websites including Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, etc.
- Promote this contest to your fans as much as possible (hint: the college/station with the most entries will win).
- Multiple winners will be drawn on Friday, February 1st at 12n PST/3p EST.
Runner-up winners will get a vinyl copy of Blak & Blu while grand prize winners will bring back to their college a copy of Blak & Blu and a Crosley turntable. To enter, click here!
We are hoping to push Gary Clark Jr. into the CMJ Top 10 this new year, so give Blak & Blu a spin!
