Dr. Dog‘s B-Room made the jump to #4 on CMJ’s Top 200 and we are looking to push it all the way to #1 now that we’re past the CMJ Music Marathon. The record is both ethereal and grounded, evoking a deep sense of introspection and blending narrative lyrics with one-take lead vocal performances, cinematic arrangements, rich soundscapes, and lush orchestration. Vollebekk – who self-produced and plays piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion and Moog synthesizer – compiled an impressive supporting cast including drummer Jim Keltner, steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Rod Stewart), and bassist Shahzad Ismaily. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.
