Mount Eerie ‘Pre-Human Ideas’ – Pitchfork Review

Phil Elverum, known to most as Mount Eerie, has a new release that is unlike any other he has made before. His new album Pre-Human Ideas is a reimagining of previous material in a synthetic manner. Recently, Pitchfork reviewed the album and said “There’s never a feeling that these are cheap 8-bit remixes, but rather these are experiments in how close can the digital approximate the spirit of the analog.” But in the albums inherent strangeness also noted that “There are some bits of goofiness on here…” which helps balance the tone of the songs and similarly offers a full scope of Elverum the person.
