Sam Cohen is a multi-faceted multi-instrumentalist whose credits include everything from acting as musical director for the Complete Last Waltz live shows to collaborating with Norah Jones. On Cool it, his first album under his own name after a combined decade fronting former bands Apollo Sunshine and the Yellowbirds, Cohen took the idea of a “solo album” to heart by recording and performing almost every instrumental part by himself.

His diverse experience has given him a knack for seamlessly blending disparate timbres, mixing folky restraint, pop melodicism, guitar freakouts, and synthy prog-rock excursions on standouts such as “Pretty Lights”, “Last Dream”, and “Kepler 62″. Cool It has a relaxed vibe, and according to Pitchfork, is “a record that can transport you to a hazy weekend afternoon in the summer”.
