NEEDS Gets Props from The Punk Site and Louder Than War

Earlier this year, NEEDS was praised by NPR’s All Songs Considered for its sound and the video for the song “We Forgot the Records to Our Record Release Show.”

Though it’s a rare and impressive feat for a hardcore band to find support from NPR, don’t think it’s because the band doesn’t make true punk music. According to a four star review on The Punk Site, the band’s self-titled debut is “a much needed, well executed counter to the more popular breeds of melodic punk” that “should be quick to find an audience in old-school punks, the hardcore crowd, and just about anyone else looking to have their eardrums burst from a direct injection of audio abrasion.” Check out the whole thing here.

Elsewhere, Louder Than War praises the band for “conveying their angst in a sardonic and often personal way” and reviewer Lisa Sookraj takes note that “NEEDS are skirting redundancy and combining their own take on various sub genres to make their own brand of punk.” Here complete analysis is here.
