Canada’s Exclaim recently caught up with Kathryn Calder for an installment of the magazine’s “Where I Play” feature that goes into artists’ studio spaces to learn about their processes and creative spaces. The New Pornographers member and solo artist gives us a tour of the Victoria Island studio, shared with her Juno Award-winning husband Colin Stewart, where she crafted her third, self-titled solo album, which the article calls “a musical reinvention of sorts.” Visit Calder‘s studio here.
Kathryn Calder is currently on tour with the New Pornographers, with a solo tour to come later this year. Fans can tide themselves over by viewing the entrancing animated video for “When You See My Blood,” which is embedded here on Brooklyn Vegan. She’s also announced one upcoming solo show, at New York’s Mercury Lounge on September 11.
