Rolling Stone AU and the Mushroom Group Love Alpine; New Album Yuck is Top 40 at CMJ

"God it's sexy being Alpine," opines Michael Dwyer in the opening to his recent four start review of Alpine's Yuck in Rolling Stone Australia. "The hyperventilating rush of the Melbourne indie-electro sextet's helium-light debut of 2012," he continues, "is in a state of orgasmic escalation on album two." While other reviewers have praised the album for its shimmering production and its unconventional take on indie pop, Dwyer's review focuses on the band's sensuality by describing the vocalizations of co-singers Phoebe Baker and Lou James as "gasping" and calling them "irresistible." It sounds like someone has a crush… but it's hard to blame him. Read about it here

Members of Alpine visited Deux Machina, a store for motorcyclists and surfers in Byron Bay on Australia's Central Coast, on July 25 for an intimate acoustic performance filmed by the Aussie Entertainment Company The Mushroom Group. Though much of Yuck's appeal comes from its thoughtful instrumental arrangements, the band shows that single "Foolish" is good enough to stand up in a stripped-down setting. Watch it here

Yuck reached a new CMJ peak last week, breaking into the top 40. They'll be in the US for a tour in September, so keep up the support!
