Studio 360 and PopMatters Feature the Bird and the Bee; Recreational Love has Back-to-Back Weeks in the CMJ Top 10

After a strong debut, the Bird and the Bee‘s Recreational Love has spent the past two weeks in the Top 10 of the CMJ Radio 200. The band has also been doing interviews and live performances on the radio, including PRI’s Studio 360. In addition to playing beautiful stripped-down renditions of Recreational Love cuts “Please Take Me Home” and “Will You Dance?,” the duo shares insights about their process and how it’s changed over the years as the group has found success and its members have started families. Listen to the performances, and the entertaining interview, here.

“Not only has Greg Kurstin transformed into a Grammy-nominated pop maestro,” PopMatters wrote in its recent feature on the production half of the Bird and the Bee duo, “but his work damn near captures the post-millennial pop zeitgeist.” That lofty statement is part of a lengthy feature on Kurstin, whose work outside of the group is as far-reaching as chart-topping singles to indie stalwarts The Shins. This busy schedule slowed down the making of Recreational Love, but Kurstin still says “it was very easy and fun process.” Read the full feature here to learn about the group’s history and Kurstin’s speculation about its future.
