Lael Neale is Featured by the Revue, Shares Poetry with Yay! LA

The Revue has an embed of Lael Neale‘s “Born in the Summer,” a standout track from her debut LP I’ll Be Your Man. The site featured the song as part of its regular Matinee feature, comparing Neale’s voice and songwriting to Sharon Van Etten, Tift Merritt, and Marta Pacek. According to the Revue, “It’s a clever piece of songwriting, which reflects Neale’s background as an English major and a poet.” Read the feature and hear the song here.

As the Revue mentioned, Neale is a poet as well as a songstress. She’s the founder of the East Side Poetry Group in Los Angeles, and she recently shared a piece of her poetry with Yay! LA. Entitled “10-27-13,” the piece explores her emotions after learning of Lou Reed‘s death. Read it here.
