WRMC and Oh Comely Love Lianne La Havas; Her Tour Starts This Week!

Lianne La Havas recently sat for a lovely lunchtime interview with Oh Comely, telling interviewer Tamara Vos about a time in which her effervescently confident stage persona was less developed than it is today. “There was one particular week where I didn’t know how to achieve what I wanted and I felt defiant,” she says. However, the story ends with a display of La Havas’ pluck: “I thought, you know what: I’m going to go anywhere and accept every single gig I can. I just rocked up with my guitar and did as many open mic nights as I could find. I didn’t say no to anything.” The rest, as they say, is history. Read more of this history, and see Oh Comely’s great photos of La Havas, here.

La Havas new album Blood has done very well at college radio, reaching the Top 20 on the CMJ Charts for three weeks in a row and finding airplay at stations throughout the US and Canada. One of those stations is Middlebury’s WRMC, which also posted a thoughtful feature on the album here. “Blood is a shining moment,” according to the review. “The development of her artistry is intriguing and awe inspiring, definitely worth a listen (or more, definitely more).” We agree!
