Gary Clark Jr. Talks About His Acting Debut with Relix, Performs “Shake” for The Daily Beast

In 2007, Gary Clark Jr. starred in the 2007 John Sayles film, Honeydripper. It’s not every day someone asks you to be the lead in a movie.” Read more about his acting experience via Relix Magazine and how it influenced his live musical performances here.

The Daily Beast has shared an impromptu live performance of “Shake” from Gary Clark Jr. at an Opera house in Austin, Texas. According to Clark, “There was this Quaker Oats box that was made into this crazy three-stringed guitar on the wall. I just picked it up and started playing it and got into this groove. I called in Jay Moeller and said, ‘Man, I need you to do your magic,’ and it just came out in one take. I just let loose the boogie.” The spontaneity of the jam is obvious and adds to the performance. Watch below!
