Fever the Ghost Perform for Yahoo!, Share “1518” with Consequence of Sound, Tour

Yahoo! has a great feature on Fever the Ghost, the trippy Los Angeles four piece whose debut LP, Zirconium Meconium, the site calls “a spectacular soundfest, filled with bloops, bleeps, squiggles, and—significantly—a number of very compelling songs likely to grab your cranium and squeeze with repeated listening.” The band performed two songs at Yahoo!’s studio in Santa Monica, where they also sat for an interview and described their sound thusly: “It’s like we’re playing a videogame… but also redesigning the videogame at the same time.” Watch the exclusive performances and interview here.

One of the many high points of the LP is “1518,” a mind-numbingly psychedelic song that debuted on Consequence of Sound. According to CoS, the song “floats from one psych-fused style to the next on squeaky, squishy waves of shimmering synths and guitars. There’s Flaming Lips absurdity on every chorus that bleeds into cartoonish pop sounds and pinched background vocals… In the middle of it all is a hook that rouses the spirit with near Sigur Rós-ian levels of beauty.” Listen below.
