St. Germain‘s self-titled comeback album was recently featured by NPR as a First Listen, and the accompanying feature had no shortage of great things to say about the record. The review starts by telling the artist’s history, touching on the success he had with 2000’s Tourist LP, before getting into the nuts and bolts of the electronic, new world music-influenced record that “taps into core ideas that have served African musicians for generations.” Writer Tom Moon praises guitarist Guimba Kouyate, featured prominently on the disc, as “a storyteller in the true African sense” whose playing emphasizes “the delicate balances that give African music its nuance and grace.” Read the review, and catch a full-album Spotify stream, here.

St. Germain had a great week on CMJ, moving up to #110 on the Radio 200 chart, #28 on the RPM chart,  and staying on the New World Top 10 for a second week in a row.
