Shye Ben Tzur Talks to the BBC and Junun is Reviewed by the Irish Times

Junun, the collaborative album between Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, Shye Ben Tzur, and the Rajasthan Express, has turned heads with its captivating blend of different world musics. The album, listed among the best of the year by the Times of London, topped the New World charts for two weeks and now sits at #2 for the second week in a row! Yet the music has been fairly mysterious: the liner notes are thin, and the PT Anderson-directed documentary about its making doesn’t give much backstory. Fortunately, a recent BBC Weekend interview with Tzur sheds new light on what inspired the album and how it came to be. Listen to it here and learn more about this alluring, inspired release.

The album has also been reviewed by the Irish Times, which gave it four out of five stars and called its creators a “hypnotic and meditative ensemble that manages to sound utterly exotic and yet somehow familiar.” Read the review, which includes an embed of a promotional video featuring the song “Roked,” here.
