The Pines, on Tour, Get Props From the Current and Hear Ya, Seek CMJ Debuts

“Just when we think we know what we’ve come to expect from the Pines or consider brushing them off as another in a long string of Americana bands,” writes Minnesota Public Radio‘s the Current, “they put out a new song that hits so close to the gut that it reminds us that they are truly a singular band.” The new song the Current is referring to is “Aerial Ocean,” the opener on the band’s gorgeous and vast new album Above the Prairie. Listen, and find out why the Current is so fixated on the track, here.

According to Hear Ya, the song is “blessed with wonderful playing while never really moving out of low gear” and the Pines’ music is “best enjoyed in a log cabin drinking a cup of something warm while sitting around a toasty fire.” Maybe that’s why Above the Prairie is being released in dead of winter! Read Hear Ya’s album announcement here.
