New Music From Vetiver – Digital Servicing Only – “Stranger Still” Radio Edit and Daniel T Remix
Vetiver returned last year with Complete Strangers, an album full of introspective lyrics paired with instrumentals that seem to fluctuate between melancholy and sunshine. This magnetic sound was harnessed with the help of musicians Bart Davenport, Gabe Noel, and Josh Adams and producer Thom Monahan (Devendra Banhart, Beachwood Sparks, The Donkeys), who joined bandleader Andy Cabic to help him expand his already-impressive sonic palette. According to Cabic, the album is like “someone I’ve just met yet known for a long time.”
According to Drops of Gold, opening track “Stranger Still” is like “seven minutes in heaven… a slow burning build of a tune, all swirly Eno synths, vintage drum machine, delayed disco guitars, and subtle percussion all leading into a triumphant strumming groove that gives J.J. Cale‘s ‘Ride Me High’ a run for it’s boogie rock money.” Now, LA-based producer Daniel T (Dublab, Cosmic Kids) presents a remix of the song, the original version of which was named Today’s Top Tune by KCRW. Included, along with the remix, in this servicing is a radio edit of the track as well as the original album version.
