Tomorrow is the last day of CMJ charting for the year, but it’s not the last day of charts. Medium Rotation is also running weekly charts and doesn’t plan on stopping until the middle of December. Powered by Spinitron, the Medium Rotation chart is different than CMJ; instead of relying on the individual formulas that stations use to determine chart numbers, it objectively determines each record’s performance based purely on reported spins. This makes for a much different chart than CMJ’s – for example, Medium Rotation had a Top Three of Leonard Cohen, A Tribe Called Quest, and NxWorries last week, while CMJ’s top three were American Football, Conor Oberst, and Slothrust. See this week’s chart, and all the Medium Rotation charts, right here.
To participate in the Medium Rotation chart, all you have to do is become an active Spinitron station. In addition to the chart, Spinitron provides many useful services for stations that help music directors track plays; integrate their playlists with social media; report to ASCAP, BMI, and SoundExchange, and more. Stations interested in the service should contact firstname.lastname@example.org and request a free 30-day trial. If you’re already hooked up with Spinitron, encourage your DJs to use the service and let them know they’re impacting the charts when they do!
